i always looked up to people who graduated with flying colors, who are scholars. people who are from the top-notch universities like UP, Ateneo, La Salle and UST. the achievers, the prof's favorite, the everybodys' tutor.
i thought that intelligence is what matters when living in the real world but i was wrong.
i met someone who is a scholar before. solving math problems is a piece of cake for her. she do well in algebra, integral and differential calculus, and balancing chemical equations in chemistry. and she is also an engineering board passer. for me , she is a "wow"!
but it took her 3 weeks before she can commute alone. she's not good with directions and she got lost in places eventhough she's been there for a couple of times already.
she doesn't brought photocopies of her transcript of records and certificates when applying for a job though it's a known fact that when applying, employers would ask for copies anytime.
she even forgot to bring her birth certificate here in singa. it's a major no-no when travelling abroad and planning to stay here for work.
she needed assistance when using phone cards to call overseas though there are steps to follow at the back of the card when making a call.
i am not putting her down in any way. its just that by observing her, i realized that i dont need to be intelligent pala to meet the simple demands of life. i just have to use my common sense in everything i do. to think twice. analyze. assess every situation. live responsibly.
